Florentine cookies are a traditional Italian dessert made with almonds, eggs, sugar and sometimes flour. They’re also considered to be the most difficult cookie to make because of how delicate they must be handled during baking.

Cookies from Florentine: What Are They?

Thin, crunchy cookies with nuts and dried fruit are interwoven together with a delicate caramel in Florentine biscuits. Because they’re midway between a cookie and a candy, they’re not your typical cookies. For a festive ambiance, the bottoms are sometimes dusted with chocolate.

What is Florentine Powder, and how does it work?

Because I used pre-mixed florentine powder, they are the easiest and most delicious cookies I’ve ever baked. All you have to do is combine it with nuts and seeds, spread it thinly and evenly, and bake it right away. Yes, it’s that easy!

For this dish, I used Florenta brand. If you’re curious about the Ingredients in the pre-mix florentine powder, here’s a list from the package: emulsifier, glucose syrup, sugar, palm fat, dextrose, whole milk powder Eggs, nuts, and lupines may be present in trace amounts.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Nuts. Cookies from Florentine are often made with hazelnuts and almonds. Use sliced almonds for a thin, crisp bite. However, you are welcome to substitute your favorite nuts or seeds in lieu of the nuts.
  • Seeds. Eating seeds has many of the same health advantages as eating nuts. For added taste, I like to add seeds. More critically, they are far less expensive than nuts. However, if you like, you are free to substitute them.
  • Fruits that have been dried or peel To add more taste, add dried fruits or peel.
  • Chocolate. Chocolate may be brushed or dipped on the cookies if desired.

Cookies from Florentine: How to Make Them

The most difficult component of the recipe is ensuring that your Cookies from Florentine maintain their form. You have three possibilities here:

  1. Use a small-medium cake ring and pour the Ingredients evenly and thinly into the ring.
  2. Fill muffin tins or muffin papers halfway with the mixture.
  3. Spread the batter on a large baking sheet and cut the cookies while they are still warm from the oven.

I like the second method since it ensures that all of your cookies have a consistent shape and thickness. Use the first procedure if you like very thin cookies. If you don’t have a cake ring or muffin pans, the third alternative is ideal. You must, however, work swiftly and cut the cookies while they are still warm. When the cookies cool, they stiffen and become more difficult to cut.
