Kadai paneer is a popular recipe for dhaba-style paneer, where paneer, bell pepper, onions and tomatoes are cooked in a sauce of freshly ground and fragrant kadai masala spices. This recipe for paneer with hot, stuffed nan or phulka, in the style of restaurants in North India, is incredibly delicious and easy to make.

I’m a big fan of the Kadai record. Unlike other dishes, this one is very easy to make. This kadai paneer recipe that I am presenting to you today is very simple and easy.

This spicy, glossy curry is cooked in a kadai onion-tomato masala sauce. A tasty blend of homemade spices, Kadai Masala, is added to this popular paneer dish from North India.

Recipe for Dhaba Style Paneer

Kadai paneer gets its name from the utensils in which it is cooked. This paneer dish is cooked in an Indian wok/kadai or karahi. Kadhai is used for preparation of fries, most of the frying also takes place in kadhai. To prepare Kadai Paneer, in the kadai curd or Indian paneer, onions, chilli and tomatoes are prepared. The aroma and taste of the kadai dish comes from a special homemade kadai masala.

If you don’t have a kadai or wok, you can cook in any pan suitable for stir-frying.

Ingredients for the preparation of a timetable

You will need these ingredients to make this karahi dish.

Payer: Use a new padded plate. You can use a homemade soft plate or a store-bought one, depending on your preference.

Expenses : Onions, bell pepper or peppers, tomatoes, tomato paste

Spices and condiments : Kadai masala, salt, red pepper powder from Kashmir, coriander powder.

Kasuri Meti: Kasuri methi or dried fenugreek is the main ingredient in the best kadai paneer recipe. This makes it delicious and brings out the true flavor of the dish.

Ingredients for Kadai Masala

Kadai Masala is a unique blend of flavors and aromas. Kadai masala is a must for making an incredibly spicy sauce for vegetables and paneer. These are the ingredients for a homemade kadai spice blend.

cumin, black pepper, cinnamon. Red pepper, dried ginger and coriander seeds.

Mix all these spices together and make them coarse.

You can use this spice mixture in many recipes. You can make this kadai masala with kadai chicken, kadai mushroom, kadai etc. I make a large amount of it and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. That way I don’t have to make it fresh every time I make a dish like this.

I share the proper ratio of spices in the recipe below.

These fresh herbs make this dish super tasty. This blend of freshly ground spices is the real secret to this amazing paneer dish.

This spice blend can be used in many recipes, it’s that delicious. So if you want, you can make a large batch and store it in an airtight container.

It is important to note that when preparing a spice mixture, the proportions of the spices must be correct to get the best results.

Preparation of a caddy plate

The first step in preparing Kadai Paneer is to cook the vegetables. Be sure to cut the vegetables into large slices so they stay crisp after cooking and don’t become doughy.

I cut the peppers into large cubes, chopped the onion into large pieces, peeled them in several layers and cut the tomatoes into small or medium sized pieces.

Thanks to the vegetables: These pieces of vegetables are first sauteed over high heat in a thick bottle-shaped pan. After sauteing the vegetables, I remove them from the pan.

Makes sauce on kadai plates

The next step is to prepare the sauce for the kadhai dish. You can make it yourself or use my Bhuna Masala recipe.

From scratch:

  1. For the paneer sauce, first add a layer of onion paste (optional) and a pinch of turmeric, then fresh tomato paste. Cook this masala for 5-6 minutes on low-medium heat until the oil starts to separate.
  2. Then add freshly fried kadai masala breadcrumbs, coriander powder, Kashmir red pepper powder and salt to taste.
  3. Boil it for a few minutes and add a cup of water.
  4. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the peppers, onions, tomatoes and the breadcrumbs cut into strips. Also add 2 tablespoons of crème fraîche or malai and a generous pinch of crushed kasuri methi. Always crush kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) before adding them to a dish. It brings out the flavor of every dish.

Kadai dish with Bhuna Masala:

I’m a big fan of super fast food, especially for everyday meals. My Indian bhuna masala, which I always have in the refrigerator, speeds up the cooking process and shortens the cooking time considerably. You can also do it with ready-made bhuna masala.

  1. To prepare kadai paneer with bhuna masala, take 2 to 3 tablespoons of bhuna masala paste. Add 1/2 cup fresh tomato paste. Cook this masala for 5-6 minutes on low-medium heat until the oil starts to separate.
  2. Add fresh kadai masala paneer, coriander powder, Kashmir red pepper powder and salt to taste.
  3. Let cook for 3-4 minutes and then add a cup of water.
  4. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the peppers, onions, tomatoes and the breadcrumbs cut into strips. Also add 2 tablespoons of crème fraîche or malai and a generous pinch of crushed kasuri methi.
  6. Cook the caddy plate for 2 to 3 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander and thin strips of fresh ginger and serve with the bread of your choice.

Difference between Kadai panel and Shahi panel

Shahin Paneer or Mughlai Paneer is a very rich paneer sauce inspired by Mughlai cuisine. Kadhai Paneer is a lighter dish than Shahi Paneer and has a very different spice profile. It is more of a dhaba style dish with rustic spices.

My tried and tested advice

Good quality soft glass: For cooking any dish, the quality of the glass plate is best suited to a homemade glass plate recipe. If using commercially available paneer, soak it in hot water for 10 to 15 minutes before adding it to the curry.

Always add the plate in the last stage of cooking. First make the characteristic kadai sauce and then add the paneer. The result of digesting the plate is a rubbery texture, which we don’t need here.

Fry the vegetables only over high heat so that the peppers, onions and tomatoes retain their shape and remain slightly crisp.

If you want to make a dry kadaig glaze, reduce the amount of water and don’t make it a thin sauce. Cook the masala with a little water, then add the roasted vegetables and paneer.

To make it spicier, you can increase the amount of red chillies and double the amount of kadai masala.

What do you serve with the Kadai Panir?

Kadai paneer sauce goes perfectly with breads like naan, paratha, phulka, chapati, etc. You can even make a dry paneer for kadhai and make it into a bun or a fried filling for samosa.

How are balances kept?

The rest of the kadai plate can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You can just heat them up in the microwave. You can also freeze it in a freezer with safety glass.

I make sure that every time I freeze something, I use glass containers that are freezer and microwave safe. When I need to serve it, I take the kadhai plate out of the freezer, thaw it on the counter and reheat it.

Kadai plate recipe – How to make a Kadai plate

Kadai paneer is a delicious paneer dish where the paneer is cooked with peppers, onions and tomatoes in an absolutely delicious sauce with tandoori naan or roti .

Instructions

  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a saucepan, add the grated ginger, fry for one minute and add the sauteed and grated onion to the saucepan.
  • After the onion puree has steamed for 2-3 minutes (because it is already cooked), add the fresh tomato puree.
  • Coat the tomato and onion paste until it begins to leave oil on the sides of the pan.
  • Add turmeric powder, chili powder and salt and mix well. Leave the frying pan.
  • In another pan, take 1 tablespoon of oil and put in all the whipped vegetables one by one.
  • Press them together with the glass plate over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes until light brown spots appear on the glass plate. Now turn on the heating. And add these vegetables to the pan with the cooked masala.
  • Add 1 cup of milk and bring this curry to a gentle boil. When the curry starts cooking, add kasuri methi and this curry is ready to serve. Finally, garnish with fresh coriander.
