Punjabi Style Chai Masala | Tea Masala Powder

If you like to start your day with chai tea, this Indian powdered masala tea is a must for preparing the best cup of masala tea.

Homemade Chai Masala recipe. Indian masala tea is made from whole spices, dried ginger and fennel seeds. Chai ka masala or chai masala powder is added to Indian masala tea to make it more aromatic.

Like me, start your morning with a cup of masala chai (spiced tea) or flavored ginger tea (adrak chai). The blend of tea and spices adds a spicy note to an ordinary cup of tea.

With this freshly made chai masala recipe, you’ll make a delicious cup of tea that looks good too. Like everyone else, I too have my secrets and favorite tricks to making good masala tea, and this homemade masala tea powder is 50% of the equation.

In this post, I am sharing with you all the tips and ingredients of Indian chai masala. You can use this chai masala to make a perfect cup of masala every time.

It’s another one of my mom’s recipes, and I added another spice that takes it to another level. It gives a good flavor to the tea and contributes to the health benefits of masala tea. So let’s not dwell on the quality of this masala chai.

I love the aromatic taste of my tea when I add a small spoonful of this fresh herb tea blend to a cup of tea.

I also share with you in the last part of this post why homemade masala chai is the best! And that’s why I still prefer it to store-bought.

What is masala tea?

teakamasala is a mixture of whole spices. It is added to Indian tea or masala tea , making it fragrant and delicious. Coarse powdered tea is warming and has health benefits. With all the spices added to make masala tea, this particular tea is known as masala tea.

  • Can be prepared fresh in small quantities because it does not keep long

What are the ingredients of Chai Masala?

These are the ingredients of Chai Masala.

  • Cinnamon (Dalkini): also known as Dalkini. Cinnamon has many medicinal properties. This is especially useful for controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics. This warming spice adds an earthy flavor and warmth to tea.
  • Clove: Clove, also known as laung, is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Fennel seed: also called sauna. There are two types of fennel seeds. I use small fennel seeds in this mixture of tea and spices.
  • Black pepper: also known as Cali mirrors. Black pepper piperine gives a spicy taste. Black pepper is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Moreover, black pepper helps in the absorption of nutrients.
  • Black cardamom: also known as bad elaichi, it helps in treating various digestive disorders and stomach ulcers. It also helps to control acid in the stomach.
  • Green cardamom: Also known as Elaichi Kat Green cardamom not only provides great flavor, but also contains antioxidants and cancer-fighting compounds.
  • Carom seeds: also known as Ajwain is the secret ingredient I add. It is generally not added to commercial masala chai. It gives a nice astringent and spicy taste and is also good for digestion.
  • Dried ginger powder: also known as Walk of South. Dried ginger helps boost immunity and reduce inflammation in the body. It also has digestive properties. It gives the tea a hot and spicy kick.
  • The nutmeg: Also known as Jaifal, very little needs to be added to achieve a subtle and persistent flavor. Too many things can’t taste good.

The aroma and taste of each spice mixture depends on the quality and quantity of the ingredients. To prepare this Panjabi Chai Masala, I used a secret ingredient that makes it even more delicious and healthy.

Chai masala powder ?

Making a chai masala at home is very simple. The spices should first be roasted for a few seconds to allow them to develop their aroma. Don’t roast them too much or they will burn and the masala tea will not taste good. A minute or less is just the right amount of time.

Add the lightly toasted spices to the grinding bowl of the blender. You can also use any coffee or spice grinder. Allow the spices to cool slightly before grinding.

Finally, add the dried ginger powder and ground nutmeg and reduce to a coarse powder. The masala tea is ready.

How to use Masala tea

If you want to make masala chai, use this 1/3 of a cent per cup of masala chai. Some other spices are also added when I make my special kadak masala tea.

Recipe notes and tips

  • Do not make a large amount of chai masala at a time. I prefer to make a small batch, as fresh masala has a spicy taste.
  • If you want to make a large bundle at once, make sure that a small portion is not used. The rest of the masala tea can be kept in the refrigerator and taken out later if needed.
  • If you can’t find ginger powder, you can use only dried ginger. If you cannot find dried ginger, you can skip this step and use fresh ginger to make masala tea.
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon when using chai masala.

Homemade masala tea vs. purchased masala tea

  1. There is no doubt that a homemade chai masala blend is always better than a store bought blend.
  2. Above all, the quality of the spices and the use of fresh spices must be controlled.
  3. You can adjust it to your taste by leaving out one or two spices or experimenting with the amount of spices to suit your taste.
  4. If you make this powdered tea at home, you can make small amounts at a time as it takes very little time.
  5. Freshly prepared masala ensures that every cup of tea you make is a perfect cup of masala!

Masala tea is made from the following ingredients: pure tea water, tea leaves, sugar and milk, to which whole spices or a mixture of chai masala and fresh (ground) ginger are added.

Instructions

  • Toast all ingredients except ginger powder and nutmeg for about 1 minute. Heat them until they begin to give off flavor, but keep the heat low.
  • Let it cool down after moving it to the grinding bowl. Once cool, add the dry ginger powder and nutmeg and grind to a coarse powder. Allow to cool and pour into an airtight jar. Store the chai masala powder in an airtight container. Use this herbal mixture to make tea.
