Sweet and Spicy Honey Sriracha Chicken

Published: 25. March 2020. – Modified: 9. June 2020

A super easy 6 ingredient honey sriracha chicken recipe, sweet and spicy, sweetened with a sticky honey sriracha glaze! Grill and oven instructions are included!

Grilled or in the oven, this honey-spiced chicken is one of the easiest ways to feed a crowd or throw a party for any occasion. Personally, I like to grill a lot of it on the grill in the summer, as a weekday meal, so I have leftovers for the rest of the week.

It’s just a chicken seasoned with salt and pepper, grilled until fully cooked and finished with a sweet mushroom glaze! The sweet and sticky mushroom glaze is made with just 3 ingredients – honey, lime and mushrooms. If you like sweet and spicy sticky sauces with chicken, then you should definitely try this recipe for Honey Chicken Sriracha!

INGREDIENTS FOR HONEY CHICKEN SHRIRACHA

  • Chicken – any piece of chicken meat can be used for this. Personally, I like to use dark meat (chicken legs, drumsticks or shanks).
  • Honey/Ahorns Syrup – You can use honey or maple syrup for this recipe. The maple syrup will be a little less sweet.
  • Lime – I like to use lime for this recipe, but I also used lemon juice. Both work well.
  • Chili Sriracha sauce is the main flavor of this chicken and should not be substituted.

OVEN ROASTED GRIRACHA CHICKEN

To roast chicken, I usually use a grate above the pan so that some air circulates between the bottom of the chicken and the pan, so that the chicken doesn’t stay in its own juices – which I think makes the chicken sticky, because the sticky sauce sticks to the chicken better. If you don’t have a grill, you can crumple up aluminum foil, untangle it, and place it on the bottom of the pan. This way you get a little more air between the pan and the chicken.

GRILLED CHICKEN SRIRACHA

It’s very easy to do on a grill. Preheat grill to medium-high and grill until meat is cooked through. It took about 45 minutes on my grill. Once the chicken is cooked, you can start applying the griracha glaze until you use up all the glaze and you’re done!

HOW DO YOU SERVE THIS HONEY CHICKEN SRIRACHA?

  • When I prepare it for a large group for a barbecue or a meeting, I serve it as is and put it on a plate like a pile of chickens so everyone can take it at will.
  • When I make this dish at home for dinner, I like to serve it with rice, a fried egg (or a boiled egg) and some simple greens (usually broccoli or fried bok choy with a little garlic)!
  • When I feel like being a little more fancy, I also make garlic mushrooms to mix with my white rice.
