A corn soup recipe to make this popular Indochinese creamy soup recipe. This restaurant-style corn soup is made with corn, vegetables, spices and herbs. You can enjoy this delicious homemade corn soup in the winter or when it rains.

This corn vegetable soup recipe is healthy, thick and creamy.  The base of this soup is creamy, but it also has a lot of texture. You could call it lumpy soup because it has bits of corn and vegetables in it.

For me, winter is the time for soup. Soups are my favorite, and I know many of you love these soup recipes too, and I make many types of Indian-Chinese restaurant-style soups at home in the winter.  As a family of corn lovers, this is one of our favorite soup recipes.

I also make several soups, such as this roasted tomato-basil soup, spinach soup and many others that I have described at the end of this post.


Ingredients for corn soup

This soup can be prepared at home with very few readily available ingredients. Let’s see what’s in this corn soup.

Corn: You can use fresh corn or frozen sweet corn. If you want to use canned varieties, you can use skimmed corn in combination with whole grains.

Carrots: Carrots are rich in vitamins and minerals. They give the soup a good texture and color.

The peas: Fresh peas give the soup a nice creamy and sweet taste.

The taste: I use soy sauce and season with salt and pepper.

Oil: You can use butter instead of butter, but I love the unique flavor and aroma of butter in my soups.

Shallots/green onions : The green, peeled part of the green onions gives this soup a deliciously spicy flavor.

Corn starch is added for a thick, creamy texture.

How to make vegetarian corn soup

  1. First, boil the fresh or frozen corn with water.
  2. Then take out a few tablespoons of corn and set aside.
  3. Puree the remaining corn kernels with water and strain the puree.
  4. For the soup, sauté the vegetables in butter and add the corn puree, vegetable stock and soy sauce. When it starts to boil, add the cornstarch, which dissolves in the water.
  5. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture starts to become translucent, then add the rest of the cooked corn.
  6. Season the corn soup with white pepper and salt.
  7. Mix well, pour into a large bowl and garnish the soup with coriander and chopped chives and serve hot.

Cooking canned corn soup

  1. I recommend using a mixture of creamed corn and canned corn kernels if you like a bite-sized soup. I have provided the details of the steps in the recipe sheet below.

How to make sweet corn soup

Being vegetarian, I make this vegan version of corn soup. But if you like chicken, which my son does, you can add chopped cooked chicken to the soup to make sweet chicken soup.

I make both vegetable corn soup and chicken corn soup. First, I make a large amount of soup and get a batch of vegetables out of it. Then I add cooked and shredded chicken to make corn chicken soup.

Sweet Corn Soup Recipe

A restaurant-style corn soup recipe that is delicious and incredibly easy to make. You can prepare it with fresh corn, frozen corn or canned corn, and with vegetables, spices and herbs.

Fresh sweet corn soup

  • Cook 300 grams of fresh or frozen corn kernels with 2 cups of water.
  • Now take about 50 cooked corn kernels and set them aside.
  • The net residue of maize grains (after chilling) and the water in which the maize was cooked.
  • Take this puree out of the soup strainer and you have an excellent puree for making sweet corn soup.
  • Heat the butter in a pan, add the chopped carrots, peas and celery and cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables have softened slightly.
  • Now add the corn puree, the cornmeal dissolved in water and the vegetable stock. Also add a little light soy sauce.
  • Boil the ingredients together until everything comes to a boil.
  • Simmer for a few minutes until the mixture begins to become translucent and add the remaining cooked corn.
  • Season the corn soup with white paprika and salt.
  • Mix well, pour into a large bowl and garnish the soup with chopped coriander and spring onions and serve hot.

Cooking canned corn soup

  • I recommend using a mixture of creamed corn and canned corn kernels if you like a bite-sized soup.
  • First, heat the butter in a saucepan, add chopped vegetables such as carrots, peas, beans (optional) and celery and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Cook these vegetables until tender but retain their shape and are slightly crisp.
  • Now add the creamed canned corn to the vegetable broth with the corn kernels.
  • Add 1 cup of water and bring to a boil. Then turn the heat down low to let the soup simmer.
  • Now mix 1.5 tablespoons of corn in a cup of water and stir well.
  • Add this cornmeal mixture to the soup and bring the entire contents of the pan to a boil again. The soup is starting to get thick with heat.
  • Serve this delicious corn soup in a bowl. Garnish with chopped cilantro and enjoy!
